Whilst reading today i came across this article about whether if its a Make-or-Break it year for the Superhero movie genre, which is actually something i was thinking to myself the other day whilst watching The Avengers: Age of Ultron on Sky. I guess the 'superhero' genre has been going on for quite a while know and we question how long it will last for? Since Sam Raimi's Spider-Man and Bryan Singer's X-Men was reinvented all different filmmakers and studios have been messing about with different concepts of the genre trying to make other breakthroughs. We are currently living in the third phase of the Superhero movies, as we have witnessed Marvel have not only brought back the colourful, joyous tone back to the superhero theme but has created something most studios nowadays are trying to interpret: the interconnected universe. It could be possible that Warner Bros' breakout superhero film of 2016 isn't Batman v Superman but possibly David Ayers adaption Suicide Squad. Suicide Squad is a gamble on the studio and the story is about a superhero which is told from the villains' point of view rather than it being from the hero.
So either in 2016 the superhero films will either be a success or failure and this can have a major effect for not just the many different studios but for the whole genre as a whole.
